I really can’t believe it’s another new year. Can someone please stop time from going by so fast? My puppies are getting older, college years are getting further away, and it’s kind of overwhelming. Feeling this way is one of the things I hope to do less in 2019. I don’t get too personal on my blog or Instagram usually, but I want to share a little more than fashion and beauty stuff going into the new year. So, here are a few things I learned in the past year that hopefully other people can relate to and learn from.
- Do what’s best for YOU. Sometimes, it’s ok to be selfish. There have been quite a few things in the past year that I was afraid to let go of. These things were making me miserable, but I felt obligated to them. My Grammy used to say only you can make yourself happy and that is SO TRUE. When I finally let them go, I realized was taking the first step to being happy with my life.
- Let go of things/people/etc. that no longer serve you. This included the simplest things like cleaning out my closet and getting rid of a TON of stuff (which is a great feeling) to distancing myself from people who I know will never change and just bring me unnecessary stress. I am not a fan of change, but I learned to accept it and know that good will come from it.
- Slow down. I have a huge problem with rushing with everything. Running errands, doing my makeup, eating a meal, etc. There are times I don’t even need to be rushing, but I do it anyway. I have just recently learned that I need to slow down and enjoy life, even if things take longer.
- Stop wishing your life away. This is a big one! I am the most impatient person I know. I want the finished product and I want it now. I know I need to be more patient and stop wanting to see the big results right this minute. This is something I plan to keep working on in 2019.
